Experts Rank Hottest Arizona Outdoor Living Trends

Outdoor living spaces in general seem to be more popular than ever, but there are some specific aspects of outdoor design that are at the top of many homeowners’ wish lists.

The American Society of Landscape Architects asked landscape architects who specialize in residential design to evaluate the expected popularity of various outdoor living trends for this year. The results were compiled in the 2014 Residential Landscape Architecture Trends Survey.

Respondents named gardens and landscaped spaces as the top thing they expect to be in demand this year. Next on the list were outdoor living spaces consisting of kitchens and entertaining space, followed by outdoor recreation space.

No matter what the particular intended use for the space, nearly all of the respondents expected lighting to be at least somewhat in-demand, with seating/dining areas, fire pits and fireplaces and grills also getting a nearly unanimous vote.

The survey findings seem to indicate that many people are looking for ways to expand their living space and create an attractive place to relax and entertain while also working with the natural landscape and respecting the environment. Of course, in areas such as Arizona, it simply makes sense to take advantage of the beautiful landscapes and natural resources we are lucky enough to enjoy here.
